Phoenix, AZ., April 28, 2008 -- Phoenix Analysis & Design Technologies, Inc. (PADT, Inc.) is pleased to announce the completion of a total upgrade and redesign of the independent online community for users of ANSYS, Inc's CAE software products: www.Xansys.org. Although hosted by PADT, the XANSYS site is entirely run by the user community. It is a resource only open to subscribers who are serious about the application of FEA and CFD to real world problems.
The core of XANSYS is a mailing list that has over 3200 subscribers around the world, and that has been located on various services for over 10 years. The new hardware and software used in the upgrade has reduced the time for all members to receive a new posting from around 15 minutes to less than 5. The archive pages are also much faster at searching the over 6 years of archived posts available on the site. The site runs on a 64 Bit two core Opteron running OpenSUSE Linux and uses a collection of open source tools such as Mailman, Apache, Lurker, Spamassin and Postfix.
In addition to the changes to hardware and core software, the website has been updated to have a more logical organization and up-to-date look and feel. Additions to the website include an updated ANSYS FAQ, more ANSYS related links and a new Tools pages that will soon host a place to upload files, opinion pools and other tools for the user community.
