In additiona to medical devices, PADT is actively involved in clean energy development programs. PADT has been selected by Stirling Energy Systems (SES) (www.stirlingenergy.com) to design, build, and test certain sub-systems for their SunCatcher solar power generating system. The SunCatcher utilizes a Stirling cycle engine to harness the thermal energy of the sun and convert it to mechanical shaft power, which drives an electric generator. SES has achieved record solar to electric energy conversion efficiencies with this system and has contracts to build and operate t wo large power projects with major Californian utilities. PADT is assisting SES in redesigning sub-assemblies within the control system to meet the reliability goals and provide compatibility with high volume manufacturing processes. PADT is pleased to be involved in this exciting alternative energy program.
