— PADT Seminar Series Presents —
Geometry Modeling in ANSYS and Workbench

Geometry import and modeling form the foundation of most FE analysis projects. ANSYS, Inc. and its partners offer a wealth of tools that allow users to do some pretty amazing things. In this seminar we will focus on what tools are available, what their strengths are, and how to use them efficiently.

Some of the topics covered will include:

  • Fundamentals:
    • The Boundary Representation Paradigm & NURBS
    • Topology vs. Geometry
    • LCD vs. Dumb vs. Native Formats
    • Translate vs. Reader vs. Associative
    • Bottom-Up vs. Top-Down
    • Boolean vs. Feature-Based
    • Tolerances
  • Review of the toolbox: CADfix, AI*Env, ANSYS, DesignModeler
  • Supported file formats
  • Dealing with dirty CAD
  • Keeping things associative
  • CADfix demonstration
  • AI*Environment repair demonstration
  • Tips & tricks for Prep7 geometry modeling
  • Using the new design modeler

The goal of the seminar is simple, making users more productive during the geometry import, modification, and creation phase of the analysis process.
