— PADT Seminar Series Presents —
Using Workbench for High-End Analysis

ANSYS, Inc. is in the midst of a transition period from their proven PREP7/POST1/POST26 modules to the new Workbench based tools. One of the nice features of the Workbench technology is that it allows users to access the full capabilities of the older ANSYS modules from within the new environment — allowing users to conduct complex simulations that have not yet been added to the new GUI. In this month’s seminar we will talk about how to access the full power of ANSYS while keeping the advantages of the new technology, as well as some of the new high-end capabilities that are available in Workbench (such as electromagnetics and non-linear solution monitoring).

Topics will include:

  • Review of Workbench modules and capabilities, including a preview of what’s new in 8.1
  • Named Selections (components) and how they enable complex analysis
  • Using Workbench to set up the basic problem, then finishing in ANSYS
  • Adding pre-processing commands
  • Adding post-processing commands
  • Adding APDL objects (Code Snippets)
  • Creating snippet libraries
  • Handling multiple load-steps and non-linear solutions
  • Passing APDL parameters back to the workbench
  • Non-linear solution monitoring
  • Low Frequency EMAG in workbench
  • CFD meshing
  • Axisymmetric and 2D models

Anyone who is using Workbench now or who has put off trying it out while waiting for more features will find this seminar very useful. Along with the usual powerpoints we will be providing several examples that users should find useful for their own applications.
