— PADT Seminar Series Presents —

The Other Elements: A Review of Lesser Used Elements That Everyone Should Know About

At version 11.0, ANSYS will have around 180 unique element types. The developers at ANSYS, Inc. are constantly adding new capabilities to the software by introducing new formulations that are more accurate, more efficient or that capture some new behavior that users have asked for. PADT has found that most users never have the time to explore new elements to see if they would be better for their applications.

In this seminar we will look at all of the powerful tools available in the element library. The focus will be on Structural and Thermal elements but will also cover other physics that are available. We will discuss the potential applications, the theory, and how to use each of the elements covered. Anyone who uses ANSYS for any type of analysis should attend this technical review.

The proposed agenda is as follows:

  • Introductions
  • Review of the ANSYS Element Documentation
  • Non-Linear Power Elements: the 18x series
  • Rigid and Kinematic Joints with the Multipoint Constraint Elements
  • Shell, Solid and Thick Shell Composite Elements
  • The Thermal Shell
  • Springs, Dampers and Bearings
  • Pipe Elements and Using them for non-Pipe applications
  • Interface Elements for Gaskets and Adhesive Connections
  • Electrical Circuit Elements and Modeling
  • Non CFD Fluid and Acoustic Elements
  • Review of Coupled Field Elements
  • As well as other Elements you Should be Aware of

As always we invite participants to add their experience and expertise to the discussion. If you can’t come to Tempe, feel free to let us know you will be attending through WebEx.
