ANSYS Geometry Tools

The ANSYS Geometry Tools are specifically designed to provide powerful CAD neutral capabilities to users of the entire suite of ANSYS, Inc.  Products that allow users to import, repair, modify, simplify, and create geometry from almost any CAD source and pass that geometry to any of the ANSYS Meshing products.  Designed with years of real world experience backing them, the ANSYS Geometry Tools can drastically reduce the amount of time to create an accurate simulation model.

Best of all, the geometry in these tools can be associatively linked to the ANSYS Meshing Tools, allowing for automatic updating of meshes when the geometry is changed, as well as parametric associativity from CAD, through modification, to meshing.

ANSYS Design Modeler

ANSYS Design Modeler is a robust and powerful geometry creation, repair, and modification tool designed specifically for the simulation user.  It supports 2D, 3D, Shell and Beam geometry along with standard feature based solid modeling functionality.  Fully associative with most major CAD tools, it fills the gap between CAD functionality and what is needed for simulation. It is a must have for anyone starting their simulation process with a CAD model that needs repair or modification.

ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler

ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler (ANSYS SCDM) software is a new way to manipulate CAD models.  The model becomes completely dynamic, allowing the user to move, stretch, add and remove with mouse movements.  All changes to the CAD model occur in real time on the screen, providing instant feedback on a design.   ANSYS SCDM is the ideal tool for users who do not have access to a full CAD system, need to repair and simplify geometry. It is also very useful when users need to parameterize non parametric geometry or features, including adding new parametric features to existing geometry.

ANSYS CAD Connections

ANSYS CAD Connections are also referred to as Geometry Interfaces.  With direct interfaces to all major computer-aided design (CAD) systems, support of additional readers and translators, and an integrated geometry modeler exclusively focused on analysis, ANSYS offers the most comprehensive geometry-handling solutions for engineering simulation in an integrated environment.

ANSYS solutions include best-in-class CAD integration technology in an industry-leading, CAD-neutral CAE integration environment.  This provides direct, associative, bidirectional interfaces with all major CAD systems.

State-of-the-art ANSYS CAD integration solutions include options for smart and selective updates of CAD parts.  ANSYS CAD interfaces also include a named selection manager.  This feature can be used to create custom attributes within CAD systems that can be directly used in ANSYS applications for modeling, meshing and analysis.

Existing, native CAD geometry can be used directly, without translation to IGES or other intermediate geometry formats. ANSYS has offered native, bidirectional integration with the most popular CAD systems for more than 12 years.
