Course Description

Course 202

ANSYS Mechanical APDL Advanced Structural Nonlinearities
You should attend this course if you analyze structural nonlinear phenomena such as advanced plasticity, rate-dependent metal inelasticity, creep, bucking, hyperelasticity, viscoplasticity, soil and concrete modeling, and element birth and death. You should have a B.S. in engineering or equivalent engineering experience, and should have already attended Course 101 or have similar ANSYS experience. It would also be beneficial to have completed the Basic Structural Nonlinearities class or have equivalent experience prior to attending this class. After completing this two day course, you will be able to:
  • Understand and improve element behavior during nonlinear analyses.
  • Effectively utilize the 18X elements in ANSYS for nonlinear applications.
  • Perform rate-dependent plasticity analyses in ANSYS, including anisotropy, nonlinear isotropic hardening, linear kinematic hardening, nonlinear kinematic hardening, rachetting and shake-down, etc.
  • Perform implicit and explicit creep analyses in ANSYS.
  • Perform viscoplastic and viscoelastic analyses in ANSYS.
  • Understand how to complete hyperelasticity analyses in ANSYS.
  • Utilize the Drucker-Prager plasticity and concrete modeling capabilities in ANSYS.
  • Perform linear (eigenvalue) and nonlinear bucking analyses in ANSYS.
  • Utilize the element birth and death capability in ANSYS.
