FTP Transfer with DOS
- Open a DOS prompt. [Start Menu -> Run, type “cmd”]
- Navigate to the location on your computer that you want to
download to or upload from using DOS “cd” command.
- Once in the desired directory, type “ftp ftp.padtinc.com” to
connect to the PADT FTP site.
- Login with your assigned username and password, or anonymously
if you dont have one. To login as an anonymous user:
- User: anonymous
- Password: "your exact email address, ex. john.smith@enterprise.com"
- Navigate to the desired folder on the FTP site using “cd” commands.
- To upload a file to the FTP site, use the “put” command followed
by the file name.
- For instance, “put file.doc”
- To download a file from the FTP site, use the “get” command
followed by the file name.
- For instance, “get file.doc”
- To see additional FTP commands, type “help” at the FTP prompt.
- When finished, you can exit the FTP utility by typing the “bye” command.
Notes on File Locations!!
- If you are SENDING files to a PADT representative: Please place (copy and paste them into the directory) your files into the Employees --> Employee Name --> in subdirectory.
- If you are RECEIVING a file from a PADT representative, you should look for your file in the in the Employees --> Employee Name --> out subdirectory.
- You may also place your files in the public folder
