PADT Gives the Gift of Bicycles to Foster Kids as 2022 Holiday Charity

Office charity drives can be a pain in the desk chair. Intentions are good – people want to give, they want to make a difference. But when you start getting into the details, it gets complicated, and you start getting into the “but” and “what about.” So we decided we didn’t have the energy for that, and we would find a simple charity, with money going directly to the beneficiaries, that would require not much more than a few mouse clicks.

Recycle your Bicycle Charity Logo

Our HR team found “Recycle Your Bicycle.” And the more we looked, the more we liked it. It is a project from the Arizona Association for Foster & Adoptive Parents. They are all about making it easier for those who volunteer to take care of kids in foster care and after adoption. With a focus on the parents, they know what families need and what could most benefit the kids those parents take care of. In the 13 years of the program, they have distributed more than 12,000 bikes!

We found out that they have a “Buy a Bike Program.” So, we set up a Paypal on our PADT corporate account and started taking donations. We quickly raised just over $850, and PADT matched that dollar-for-dollar for over $1,700. They tell us that will purchase around 20 bicycles with safety gear and accessories.

If you want to add to our contribution, you can buy for a kid on their website, here. Or, if you have some old bikes just taking up room in the garage or want to volunteer, check out their Facebook page for information.

Whatever charity you chose to do for the holidays, make it count!

Thank you to all of PADT’s Employees, Customers, and Partners for making a difference.
