PADT is involved in three space technology related events in the first half of 2025, and one fun event, that are significant enough to dig a bit deeper into – one is a seminar on simulation, another is a summit on Arizona’s space business ecosystem, there there is the annual Space Symposium, and I’m going (again) “where no one has gone before.”
Before we get into it, if you want to learn more about the space industry in Arizona, listen in to our December AZ TechCast from the Arizona Tech Council. It was a great chat.

Workshop on Simulating Space Hardware: February 25th in Denver and Online
PADT’s tech support team is teaming up with the experts at LSAS Tec to host a free Space Simulation Workshop. This free event is so popular, that we split it into two sessions. One from 9:00 – 12:30 and the other from 1:00 – 4:30. The in-person attendees will be able to see our new offices and enjoy lunch in Lakewood, Colorado. Those interested but not in the Denver area can join online.
The agenda includes:
- New Advancements in Ansys STK and ODTK
- Satellite Operations with Ansys STK and ODTK
- Interconnecting Applications with Terminal
- Optimizing Design and Simulation with Ansys HFSS and Ansys Thermal Desktop
Members from both LSAS Tec and PADT’s engineering staff will be there to answer any questions participants may have. It will also be a chance for you to meet and talk with other engineering conducting simulation for ground, launch, and on orbit hardware.

Propelling the Space Economy to New Heights at the Arizona Space Summit 2025: March 20th in Tempe, AZ
PADT is a sponsor of and will be hosting a booth at this years Arizona Space Summit 2025. Arizona State University (ASU) is hosting this annual event for the third time. We will be talking over the meeting area of the Omni Tempe Hotel. Assisting ASU are local organizations and universities including the AZ Commerce Authority, AZ Tech Council, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, GPEC, the University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University.
Companies and Organizations sponsoring or attending include:

PADT will have a booth in the lobby and has been helping out on the planning committee. This is a good event to learn who is doing what around the Space industry in Arizona, from startups to primes, and to meet others who work in the industry. I’ve been to every one of these so far and have left with new knowledge and new contacts.

Representing Arizona at the 40th Space Symposium: April 7-10, Colorado Springs Colorado
Once again, PADT is pleased to be coordinating the “Arizona Space Industry Booth” at the Space Symposium. This is one of those rare conferences where connections are made the lead to partnerships and contracts. It is big, it is long, and it is worth every minute.
This year, so far the Arizona booth will be hosting:
- Arizona Commerce Authority
- Arizona State University
- Arizona Technology Council
- Freefall Aerospace
- Kinetx Aerospace
- Qwaltec
- PADT
- University of Arizona
We usually have a good half-dozen other organizations attend through our booth. So, although the spots in the 20×10 booth are full, we are more than happy to help you save a little money by purchasing your show passes through the booth.
Learn more about the event here on the SpaceSymposium.org site.
And if you are interested in show passes through the booth or just staying in touch with other Arizona companies attending, shoot us an email at info@padtinc.com.

To Boldly Go… Celebrating What the Future Could Be at Star Trek the Cruise VIII
Also, I am very happy to share that I’ll be going on my fifth Star Trek: the Cruise at the end of February. The ship is sold out, but I thought I’d mention it just because I’m excited and because PADT is sponsoring an event on the second day – the second annual Star Trek Techies Meetup. We tried this last year and met around 15 different engineers, scientists, IT people, and mathematicians. This year, we already have 75 people RSVP’ing.
Every time I go there is always a long conversation about the connection between Science Fiction in general, and Star Trek in particular, and the space industry. Robert Picardo, the actor who played the EMH on Star Trek Discovery, is also a board member of the Planetary society and Astronaut John Grunsfeld have some special programming planned.
You can check it out on the cruise website.
