Fun with Math and Pie for PADT’s 2025 Pi Day Celebration

Categories:

March just sort of snuck up on us and before you know it, we are celebrating another Pi Day here at PADT. For a while now we have been celebrating with fresh pies and a math quiz, and this year was no exception. We got our pies from Village Inn again this year and at least one employee brought one in.

We really have to do a better job of taking pictures, but with that big of a variety of pie we kind of forgot. here is one closeup to let you know what you missed.

The Annual Pi Day Math Quiz

For a while now we have been doing a math quiz as part of our celebration. This year’s quiz had a good mix, so everyone got half right. We had a tie for the winner, with two employees getting a perfect score. But the first one to submit will get this years hand made PADT Pi Day Math Contest Trophy Plate

Here is a link to a JPG file with the quiz in it if you want to use it to make your own. I used Microsoft Forms and there is no good way to share it. But you can cut and paste from the image.

More About Pi Day

I was looking at older blog posts about Pi Day and can’t figure out when we started, but it has been at least 10 years.

Here are some resources for Pi Day:

A couple of years ago we looked up who had calculated the most digits of Pi. Back then, in 2022 or so it was on the order of 1 x 1014 digits. Well, in June of 2024 someone made it to 2 x 1014 digits. You can see the whole history of calculating Pi on the Wikipedia article “Chronology of computation of π.”

We hope you and your co-workers had a great Pi Day.
