Arizona’s first #AZTechWeek is only a few months away, and PADT is excited to take part in this exciting celebration of all things tech startup in Arizona. As the website says:
Arizona Tech Week brings together the best and brightest from around the world to share future-forward perspectives on tech, entrepreneurship, breakthroughs, and more.
Tech Weeks are growing in popularity around the country because they are community-driven events. The sponsoring organization, in our case, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), doesn’t put on the activities. They provide a platform for promoting and coordinating everything.
PADT has a long relationship with the ACA and the Arizona startup community. We volunteer our time and expertise as mentors, co-sponsor events, speak, facilitate panels, and often work with local startups, providing them with simulation, product development, and advanced manufacturing products and services.
So when we saw a chance to host events for AZTechWeek, we sat down and thought about where we could offer the most value, and we came up with two events.
Start AZTechWeek Off with Breakfast and Advice for Advisors
When: Monday, April 6th, 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
Where: PADT’s Offices at the ASU Research Park (South Tempe at Elliot & L-101)
What: A seminar, discussion, and networking breakfast focused on startup mentoring and mentors
Who: Anyone who is a startup mentor or wants to become one
Our first event will be on the morning of the first day of the week, Monday, April 6th, and will be focused on making one of our ecosystems strongpoints even stronger – Mentoring. We will be meeting in PADT’s seminar room for breakfast to network, provide a seminar on what we have learned about mentoring in our ecosystem, and then facilitate a discussion between everyone on how to take how deliver advice to startups to the next level.
Eric Miller (Arizona Commerce Authority, CleanTech Open, ATI, PADT)
We will share how to partner with startups to deliver value-added advice and connections, avoid the most common causes of mentoring failure, and explore different mentoring and advising options.
Connect with and Learn about Hardware Startup with: Arizona HardTech: It’s Different
When: Tuesday, April 7th, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Where: Center For Entrepreneurial Innovation (Gateway CC)
What: Serious talk about the unique challenges hard tech startups face in funding, getting to launch, and dealing with the hard, cold realities of bringing a physical product to market
Who: Hardtech startup founders and their key team members, and anyone interested in the hardtech journey to success is invited.
Most startup events focus on software companies, the latest “Uber of this” or “somethingorother.ai.” But Arizona has a long history of launching and growing startups that develop, sell, and support physical products, and both CEI and PADT felt like we needed an event focused on the hard realities of hardtech.
CEI and PADT are teaming up for an afternoon of serious talk about the unique challenges hard tech startups face in funding, getting to launch, and dealing with the hard, cold realities of bringing a physical product to market.
This four-hour event is focused on startup founders and their key team members, although anyone interested in the hardtech journey to success is invited. We will start and finish with networking, and have three distinct but synergistic sessions:
Getting to Funding and Launch Faster with Simulation (PADT)
Funding Realities and Options for Hardware Startups (CEI + PADT)
Advice for the Hardware Founder’s Journey (CEI)
This talk is industry agnostic, and people interested in any vertical, including medtech, aerospace/defense, sustainability, energy, electronics, and more, will find the information interesting, useful, and actionable. We will have time for Q&A and open discussions, as well as a chance to meet other people interested in hard tech.
Most of our customers receive their support over the phone or via email. Customers who are close by can also set up a face-to-face appointment with one of our engineers.
