Well, another year came and went, and it is Pi Day again. We have been celebrating 3/14 for a long time now, as you can see by past blog posts. Our standard formula is several different pies and a math quiz.
AI Can and Will Halucinate on Pi Day
This year, to save time, I had the great idea of asking one of our LLMs to generate our 10-question quiz. Which it did with ease. So I published that. Foolishly, without checking them. Almost immediately, I got emails that the multiple-choice answers didn’t match the actual answer. Disaster. Start again.
The Real Contest for Pi Day
So over the weekend, I went out on the internet, got questions from some open-source quizes, and pasted those into Microsoft Forms as a quiz, and we were back in business. Here is the official PADT Pi Plate that we make every year for the winner, and this year’s winner, Ayden Shields. Two employees got all 10 questions right, but Ayden turned his in first, winning bragging rights for 2026.
If you want to take the quiz, I’ve made it open to anyone with the link:

And of Course, Pie for Pi Day
The other part of Pi Day at PADT is the pie. This year, we went to Village Inn and got:
- Chocolate Peanut Butter
- Pumpkin with Whipped Cream
- Southern Pecan
- Strawberry Rhubarb
The chocolate peanut butter was the clear favorite and disapeared first.
