Advice for Advisors

Monday, 4/6/2026 | 7:30 am – 9:00 am | PADT’s Tempe Offices

Kick off Arizona Tech Week with this informative seminar, discussion, and networking breakfast featuring longtime ecosystem advisors/mentors Michelle Howard (CEI), Noreen Scheu (XLR8 PBC), and Eric Miller (ACA). The session is for those who are or want to be mentors or advisors to tech startups in Arizona, not consultants or fractional executives. We will share how to partner with startups to deliver value-added advice and connections, avoid the most common causes of mentoring failure, and explore different mentoring and advising options. It is also a chance for you to meet others who are active mentors in the ecosystem.

Arizona HardTech: It’s Different

Tuesday, 4/7/2026 | 8 am – 12 pm | CEI’s Phoenix Campus

CEI and PADT are teaming up for a morning of serious talk about the unique challenges hard tech startups face in funding, getting to launch, and dealing with the hard, cold realities of bringing a physical product to market. This four-hour event is focused on startup founders and their key team members, although anyone interested in the hardtech journey to success is invited. We will start and finish with networking, and have three distinct but synergistic sessions:

– Getting to Funding and Launch Faster with Simulation (PADT)
– Funding Realities and Options for Hardware Startups (CEI + PADT)
– Advice for the Hardware Founder’s Journey (CEI)

This talk is industry agnostic, and people interested in any vertical, including medtech, aerospace/defense, sustainability, energy, electronics, and more will find the information interesting, useful, and actionable. We will have time for Q&A and open discussions, as well as a chance to meet other people interested in hard tech.
