A form of scanning that measures the external and internal geometry of an object using a series of planer x-ray images. These x-ray images are stacked to create a 3D model that can be viewed and precisely measured.

Formerly referred to as a CAT scan.

In additive manufacturing, it is used as a non-destructive inspection method to view internal features in a part, especially voids in parts made with metal powder bed fusion.

Abbreviated as CT.
