A hybrid manufacturing process that combines directed energy deposition additive manufacturing with subtractive machining to create accurate metal parts. It usually involves a controlled metal spray or controlled wire welding to deposit a layer of metal material on the build layer. Then a high-speed milling cutter is used to smooth the outside surface or create desired features in the part.
