A hygroscopic material that is added to an enclosure or container to remove moisture from the contents in the closed space or to keep moisture from building up in the contents. Most desiccants are a placed in packaging or enclosures to control humidity in the other contents. In additive manufacturing, desiccants are used in material packaging to keep moisture from being absorbed and reducing the performance of build and support materials.
