Pulling something back or into something it came out of.

In additive manufacturing, retraction refers to pulling material back up into the extrusion nozzle in material extrusion additive manufacturing processes when the device is not actively extruding material. This is done to keep the material from dripping out of the nozzle while the nozzle is not depositing material.
