A measure of how thick any thin material is, especially the outer shell of a part.

In additive manufacturing, it can also refer to the thickness of the outer service of a part that uses infill for its interior. Possible shell thickness is determined by the minimum dimension the additive manufacturing process can build.

Shell thickness that is too thick or too thin can cause problems during or after a build because of distortion or failure.
