A physical part or assembly used in manufacturing to control the motion or location of a part or a tool during a manufacturing process.

In additive manufacturing, jigs may be made with additive manufacturing or they may be used in post-processing to control drilling, machining, and gluing.

Different from a fixture in that a fixture only holds a part or parts, it does not guide or control the motion or location of another tool.
